Nostalgia for a bygone age- along Tripoli's souk
Tripoli's Ancient Medina, Libya
Walking the streets of Tripoli’s Ancient Medina of Libya in which every day the souk comes alive, one is transmuted a century back in time. Amidst the colourful traditional clothes and old architecture and ruins, perfume from exotic spices and different aromas of incense, one forgets this should be the 21st Century. Only the occasional speck of dyed jeans and modern sunglasses worn by the young along with traditional garments, steals away the illusion and makes one realize it should be the present day.
Various characters roam the streets lethargically, unconscious of the modern-day obsession with time, yet making the atmosphere full of life as spicy as that sold in various outlets of the market.
